DIO/MIO Neapolitan Pizza - Italian Restaurant

Nice Neapolitan pizza place, kind staff and excellent food. Very authentic taste and well executed! Will definitely return when I’m in Basel. Can only recommend.

Went there with a friend, first time. I tried the homemade ice tea 5dl and Salsiccia & Friarielli. The ice tea was cold to the touch with a fresh taste. The pizza tasted great, the crust was the perfect combination of soft and crunchy, but not too thin. Size was also decent, enough to make you full. It was made on the spot and still warm when it came to us on the table. Price wise, it would be on the pricy side when it comes to dining out and eating pizza in Switzerland. We ate outside on a nice day with good weather, the scenery was bustling with people and vehicles, so it was kind of loud, but the air was still fresh. The service was also good, our waitress was nice and friendly. We didn’t have to wait too long for our drinks and pizzas to come, just enough time in between to have a chat. I would recommend trying this place out at least once, especially for people who don’t have to worry about their budget.

Let's begin with the salads; unfortunately, they fell short with a rating of 1.5/5. Both the fennel salad and vegetable salad lacked flavor, poor seasoning, and were overall uninspiring. On the bright side, the pizzas were quite good, particularly the Diablo, which was simply amazing. However, the dough didn't quite meet expectations when it came to holding all the toppings in place. There were sections where the cheese and toppings separated from the pizza, possibly due to the heat or the dough itself. I had hoped they would serve the pizza with scissors in the classic style, as it was quite difficult and frustrating to cut it with a knife. We had to put in a lot of effort and almost ruined the pizza in the process just to get a decent slice. I would rate the place 3/5, but I must commend the enjoyable atmosphere. Hopefully, they can make improvements and learn from the Italians. I also wonder if the place has a Nopaltina certificate and if the dough is prepared with the utmost care.

Authentic Italian Pizza at DIO/MIO Neapolitan Pizza – A Must-Visit! I had the pleasure of dining at DIO/MIO Neapolitan Pizza with a colleague, and we both absolutely loved the food! Craving an authentic Italian pizza, we decided to give this place a try, and it exceeded expectations. I ordered the Margherita pizza, and my friend opted for a vegetarian pizza—both were delicious, fresh, and perfectly made. The spicy olive oil added the perfect kick to my pizza, making the flavors even more enjoyable. It couldn’t have been better! Their beer collection was also fantastic, offering a great selection to pair with the meal. Service was very slow though, deserts took forever to get served. We didn’t make a reservation in advance and just walked in. While we were lucky to get a table, it was right next to the entrance. I’d highly recommend making a reservation if you're visiting with family or friends to ensure a more comfortable seating arrangement. The restaurant is in a prime location, just a short walk from the train station, making it super convenient whether you're in the area for work or leisure. If you’re looking for authentic Neapolitan pizza with great flavors and a cozy ambiance, DIO/MIO Neapolitan Pizza is a must-visit! Highly recommended.

Was there in summer '23 with my family and if the kids think they had the best pizza in the world (understatement), it was definitely me who enjoyed "ROASTBEEF CON TARTUFO"... to die for (see pic)! Service was friendly but inattentive, maybe caused by the fact that we were seated in the backyard, which by the way was directly in a dead end road (noisy cars turning around - do not get seated there). Next time I rather chose a seat in the restaurant.

Great little find. Popped there on a Friday evening, when we arrived in Basel. We hadn't booked but they found us a table. Really good pizza choices, which tasted delicious and were served in good time.

Excellent dough quality i must say! Their neapolitan pizzas are very tasty and delicious — we waited 45 mins for our order but we’re not disappointed pizzas tasted genuine and authentic. very friendly and good service — less wine options —It can be very loud and noisy and seats aren’t comfortable mostly in second floor but nice ambiance and interiors nice location Will come back next time to try other menu!
